I was wondering about the significance of the .bmp type image file, in particular. I know about .gif's, .jpg's, and .png's. But I don't know what .bmp's are for. Could someone inform me?
.bmp is almost exactly the same as a .jpg just higher quality and it takes up more space due to less compression
Oh...I was wondering because most of the time when I upload images to something, they don't accept .bmp's, and I was wondering if there was something more significant.

BMPs are not accepted due to the sheer size of it.

BMP is also highly pixelated.
They're not as pixelated as some JPEGs though...
For example in Falcon 4.0, there is a Big quality difference between the two. The JPEGs usually look worse than the BMPs.
