Looky here http://www.rage3d.com/index.php?cat=85#newsid33817132 Apparently Intel will be embedding Copyright protection INTO thier Pentium D CPU and new motherboard... so basically you are PAYING them so the suits with the millions can be digitally handcuffing you from certian actions... just to make sure you don't steal anything, or dare we say it, copy a CD!!! JUST ANOTHER REASON TO BUY AMD madx.gif

so that means that if we have an Intel Pentium D Processor, and scratch a, say, a BF1942 disc, we would be guarenteed our money back since we wouldnt be allowed to make back ups

Well, this has been a while coming. IMO, if I want copy a CD (which I paid for with my hard-earned dollars) and convert it to mp3s for my own use, and they don't let me, they can get stuffed. I'll buld my own computer, switch to AMD, or look for a workaround--legal or not. It's my computer, and I'll do what I want with it--they can kiss my ass.

my thoughs exactly! thats a stupid move for intel anyways, there just gonna be getting more people to switch to AMD, and thats one thing i don't think they need, seeing how they already suck compared to AMD. and i don't care one bit about there Pentium-D with there copyright shit in it, i don't plan on getting one anyways. Intel sucks. madx.gif

Seeing as Intel has done this I will never buy another Intel CPU as long as their company exists. If you're invading my privacy you can take a running jump.

This was a part of an Anti-Piracy group, I forgot the name of it. One of the biggest Members of this group is Microsoft, and they've been trying to get it into the hardware for years. Apparently Intel has finally given in...

Do some digging with Google, you'll turn up hundreds of pages.

This is supposed to be a "Key" feature of Windows Longhorn. GUESS WHAT? All the ingorant lemmings in America are going to buy Intel Processors. The next Generation of Celeron processors will likely have this "feature". If it gets to be strong enough with Intel, then Microsoft can force AMD to add those features, possibly through the Government.

You see. There will probably the "Legal" Intel users. Guess what AMD will be? You think AMD will last long, with that kind of a reputation? I would like to think that they wouldn't cave, but businesses seem to rarely have spines.

So it is coming, and there is nothing you can do about it. Even Linux will have to get on the bandwagon. Unless something suprising develops.

Nordicvs, well said. :D This is just further invasion of our privacy by the corporations and, big surprise here, the government. If I want to make a copy of a music CD so I can have a copy in my home theater system, and a copy in my car stereo, I'll do it!!! No government is going to tell me otherwise. These actions by manufacturers don't stem from actions by people like me, they stem from people that copy hundreds and thousands of music CDs, video games, movies, etc, ILLEGALLY! More infringment of the rights of the people. I doubt a millionaire singer will lose money because I make a copy of a CD I legally purchased. In fact, I'm supporting Sony by buying CD-R's, SO WHAT'S THE PROBLEM?
