I was reading through this and well its not all its up to be. They had to overclock it to 2.6GHZ to out beat the FX60 and FX57. Even overclocking it still did not get that much impressive results. Only around 1-3 more FPS and 6-10 seconds taken off when multitasking. When it was not overclocked it was outbeaten by the AMD 4400+. Then on Single Core apps AMD pretty much beat the crap out of it. Only time the Core Duo had a chance was being overclocked from its stock 2.1GHZ to 2.6GHZ.

I don't like Fanboys....

Core Duo is Simple 2 Dothan's on one die with minor improvements. Because of the Large cache single threaded performance takes a hit because of latency. This doesn't matter because Core Duo 2 comes out in 3 months.

Core duo 2 ( I know shitty name) is a utterly raping everything AMD has thrown at it. Google Conroe and Merom if you don't believe me.

You kidding me right? Pentuim D's are POS. What does two underperforming single core cpu's get you? 1 underperfoming Dual core chip. Seriously Core Duo blows them outof the water. And the OP failed to even realize that Core Duo is a mobile chip. It is insanely low tdp for mobile/latops. It is pretty sad to even have to compare the Core Duo with AMD's top of the line.

alright, i must have missed that memo... and yea, how can you compare a mobile chip with a desktop chip? considering the CD only has a 667mhz FSB compared to the AMD's 1066mhz FSB.

Ok, a while back Intel was getting raped by everyone for pumping the clock speeds up and yet losing to processors with a far lower speed. Now that they're taking the lower speed route (Pentium M/Core Duo) you're going to start raping them because they're just on par with the current AMD competition at a slower clock speed? You do realise this means that if clocked at 2.8GHz, like the FX-57 is, it would beat both of them, don't you?

If a 2.1GHz processor got even remotely close to a FX-57, that would be very impressive. Like it was when AMD did it a number of years back with the Athlon XP vs Pentium 4. So why don't you find it impressive when Intel does it? Oh, wait, you own an Athlon don't you? Silly question.

Agent... I hope you realise that you've just posted something noting that Intel's latest mobile chip is roughly on par with AMD's latest desktop chips.

As although donut seems a little confused, he's dead on with the Conroe note. AMD will probably be running just to keep pace until mid-2007.
