Earlier today, I was at Fry's looking around for some hardware, and I saw a display PC advertising the Core 2 Quad, and it had a 4870 (I think, whatever it was it had 2 fans), so I decided to try it out. The PC had UT3 and ET: QW, so I tried both, but man when I started playing UT3 I didn't want to stop, it was amazing seeing a game at very high settings at amazing framerate for once in my life.

Uh....so....like...what? I believe the only thing more pointless than this topic is my pointless reply to it...
Meh....I just thought I would share my experience with a PC with a Core 2 Quad and a 4870.

Well, most anything is going to seem amazing compared to that X1300 your using.

Heh, I have that experience every time i turn my PC on. I just wish i had a 4870X2 or two 4890's.....
Know what's really nice? Getting a game, and sliding everything to max without a second thought. =p
It's a very nice feeling. I had the same thing when I first started using my rig.

Hm, I just realised what an asshole I sounded like when I said that. Apologies...
computernerd, I seem to recall you were/are working on a new build?

^ Me too. I know what its like, i was running a craptastic X300 for about a year before i upgraded to anything better. And that was only to a lowly 7300GT....
My last build was a huge leap for me graphics wise, from a 7300GT all the way up to a overclocked HD 3850!

Try a 2.2C2D/7300GS to a 4.0C2Q/GTX280 OCed. That first day was insane!

:vikki: That's nothing. Athlon64 2.4GHz/Radeon 9600 SE to an i7 920 (now at 3.6GHz!)/4870.
