I have Verizon FIOS. I've checked my connection on speedtest.net and it is 5MB download speed. So if it's like that, why can't I get download speeds over 600KBPS? I have NEVER had it go over 600KBPS. Can I get some help here?

Your download is capped at the rate of upload you are downloading from.

600kB/s is about right for a 5mb connection. They're different units, one is in bits the other in bytes.

yeah that is a HUGE misconception on alot of peoples parts..... Just because they have Blazing speeds, they don't understand they can only get as fast as it is given ....

So basically it all depends on the host your downloading a file from?

Yeah that does have a very large impact - but on 5mb you're not gonna get much above 600kB/s by definition.

Your rate is really good though, I wouldn't be so greedy.
