I just moved in a house with a few of my buddies. We have Comcast cable internet and the modem and router are both downstairs. It is a wireless Linksys router with ethernet capabilities. I wanted to run a long ethernet cord from the router to my room upstairs, but the I'd have to punch holes in the walls and everything.
So I'm just going to get a wireless network card for around $50. I figured a Linksys card would be wise. My roomies run their wireless PC's and Xbox 360 Live fine, with no lagging problems. Anyways my main question is, with a wireless network card I can obviously have internet access on my desktop PC, but how will I get Xbox 360 Live?
My buddy in the next room has a laptop with wireless internet, and he just has an ethernet cord running from his laptop to the 360 with no problems. Is it possible to do this since my PC is an outdated Athlon 1.1GHz? But I do have Win XP Pro. Thanks guys, this will be a HUGE help.
You should be able to use Internet Connection Sharing easily enough. The only real caveat is that the PC has to be on to use XBL.
i dont know what that means. But I don't have to spend $99 on an XBOX 360 Wireless adapter right? My PC has an wired network card in it. If I also put a wireless card in the PC, can I connect the XBOX Live through the wired card?
Er, yes, using Internet Connection Sharing like I said. Both Google and Windows Help are more than capable of taking you through ICS setup step-by-step, your choice which.
