I want to get an iPod, but I want to learn more about it first. I've read about it on Amazon.com and Apple.com, but it is still a pretty big investment (for a 14 year old anyway) so I want to learn as much as possible. So if you have one, tell me what you think about it.
From what I have researched, iPod doesn't work on Windows 98 SE, which wouldn't be good for me. Is there a way around this?
Dude, I dont know about everyone else, but getting my Ipod was the greatest thing i have done i a while. If you are low on cash like I am, then go look around town for a 10gb Ipod cuz who really needs a 15? it costs more, and if your smart you can just manage your playlists and still have like a bajillion songs. Might ask some tech guys about the windows 98 thing though.

Hmmm, did u know that after 18 months apparently the battery runs out and u have to send it back to be replaced and they charge you $255 plus mailing fee.
Go here to see more: www.ipodsdirtysecret.com Don't know if that still applies, but it put me off buying one.
Haha, yeah sorry mate, Ipods suck. Get a RIO
yeah i heard about that, but it doesnt bother me, I got a warranty that says i dont have to pay for a replaced battery, dont ever buy from the big suppliers, go to you local Mac store or something, thats what i did.

My local mac store??
Don't think there is one near me.
Does apple.com work the same? Cuz I'd just buy them from the source, and a few accessories.
The iPOD minis are such crap.Only 4GBs for 250!? Crazy.
I heard about that problem, but it's not all true according to friends. One broke down, and he takes the worst care of anything. Plus, there was no $300 shipping fee for him.
People say I post too much

this thread may be dead, but to save myself from being tolld to " check out other ipod threads" , i will post this here...
hmmm i think ipods are worth a look, but just to clear up a few things i've been wondering.
1- (shown in theis thred already, but anyhoo) They have custom battery yes? i dont believe that crap about 18 mnth then it dies. my laptop battery lasted about three weeks cos i didn't treat it right, but now i've learned from that mistake haha. if you dont run it of ac power allways with the batt in and only recharge it when it goes flat, u should have no prolblem...
2- hmm u can use them as a portable harddrive ...YAY!.... they are compatible with winXP though, arent they?
3- they gotta be better than the cheapo mp3players that have only 128 or 256mb memory, cos they hold no songs .... my dad got a mp3 cd player a while back, thats outdated and isn't good enough for my needs... how much better than the cheapo's?
meh ... fergot other questions...
I take what n0e says way too seriously

I think thThe 4g version was just released. It fixes some interface issues/battery problems.
I wouldnt buy it unless you have AT LEAST 3 gigs of music already.
