hey guys. I was thinking about getting an IPod nano but I have heard you need to download the songs for them off Itunes. So, if you are downloading songs from another music program onto your computer, is there a way of getting around this and putting the music onto your ipod. This is for the Ipod Nano in particular. Thanks yall, bartender

Well, my friend has a normal iPod and he can use whatever he want's. Not sure about the nano...

I personally wouldn't buy an iPod. Creative IMO are alot better.

By 'download', it means from your computer to your iPod, not from the internet. The music on your PC is taken through iTunes onto your iPod.

I have an Ipod mini, and I simply plug it into any PC, go to tools/folder options, and enable "view hidden files" then go to a folder in your Ipod called "ipod control" or something like that, there you will find all your music, but with different names, but if you choose to view the files as "details" then right next to the date of last modification, you will find the name of the song.

Getting songs off iTunes costs. Getting them elseware for free obviously doesn't, but that would be piracy. ;)

To give you a clear answer. NO, you don't have to have you music downloaded from iTunes to put it on your iPod. You can put on any song on the iPod, and any audio file for that matter. I know, I own an iPod.

Extremely. All you have to do is start up iTunes (comes with your iPod), make a Library, drag in all your music, and it auto-updates your iPod.
