I am about to buy a new PC and i just wanna know if the P4 3.4 Extreem Edition is really worth the Price compared to the P4 3.4 HT? And would i really get much of a Performace boost from 2 Gig of ram? Also is the Radion 9800 XT Pro the best Video card out there for gaming?
p4 3.4 ht would be more effecent on your money spending, theres not much between em really just the 1mb cache on the EE compared to the 512k cache on the normal 3.4, both have HT on the cpus. Graphics card wise ati & nvidia are slowly releasing new cards.
Atis new range = x800pro & x800xt PE
Nvidias new range = 6800 ultra
Both are very good cards & couldnt really fault them if you wait a few weeks then the 9800xt will probs be dropped in price.
dont buy the EE edition. it was only there to compete with the amd 64 and isnt worth the money....
Well... it depends.... most games only need about 512mb a ram. everyone usually gets 1gig becuase thats all the computer needs... but if your doing hosting/being a server, 2 gigs would be nice.
Read reviews on the new graphic cards coming out from Nvidea and ATI -Nvidea GeForce 6800 (ultra) -ATI x800 (x800xt) Nvidea is coming out wiith a 512 mb version of the 6800 soon.
Final comments: If i were you, get the 3.4 ht (not EE), 1 gig of ram for gaming and regular use and 2 gigs if your a server. (remember get good ram like 2 sticks of 512mb dual channel ddr 400mhz), and if you got the money get a GeForce 6800 becuase its more advanced that the x800 right now.
EDIT: GET 480WATT MINIMUM POWER SUPPLY... the new graphic cards take up a lot of juice (watts :D)
The Northwood has 512k The Prescott has 1 Mb The EE has 2 Mb And the EE is faster but not worth the money.. Buy a normal 3.4 HT800 FSB with a X800 XT or a 6800 Ultra and 1 gig of ram and you'll have a great machine for the price of 1 P 3.4 EE
what is the difference between a processor with a 800mhz FSB and one with a less mhz bus?
I have a p4 3.4 ghz ee and the only reason why I bought it was because im paying 1400 $ whole for the system. The 3.2 ghz ee goes for about 1,000 on newegg but there is no way that it is as powerful as what your paying for the extra $$ isnt worth it. I wonder how many people bought this cpu.
Thanks for the Info about all of that. I have looked up Info about the X800 XT pe thing and it seem like a great card.. I don't mind Spending that much on the Video card. As for the Chip i had a fealing there wasn't enough bang for the buck.. Thanks for all the info.
