Since yesterday the video on my PC has been getting really bad at random times. By bad I mean that its got lines that run horizontally across my screen and the video flickers and then it will return back to normal. This happens no matter what applications I'm running on my PC. I don't remember the exact model of my video card but according to the device manager its a Radeon X1300 series card. As for my monitor its a Proview 19" wide screen LCD thats less than a year old. Any thoughts on what could be the problem would be appreciated.
I've had a problem like this before with a monitor I found by a dumpster. Try attaching a different monitor to your computer.

Sadly I don't have another monitor that I can use for a test. I have bought another video card to install into my PC to see if that resolves the issues.

Did you at least get a good one? =p
I don't think its too bad considering I'm on a tight budget currently. I have since found out that it was my lcd that was bad. A few hours ago the backlight went out completely and I have since contacted the warranty services for Circuit City since I bought it from there and they are sending me a new lcd.
The card I got is a Radeon HD 3450 with 512MB memory. I seen alot better but I had to get something on a budget so that'll have to do for now.
I used to have a Radeon 9800 and one time I those lines and stuff across the screen and it stayed there one it came on. When I first turn on the computer and stuff, everything seems fine but then the lines pop up and never went away. I replaced the video card and the problem was solved. So its probably your video card but try to test your computer on a different monitor first.

Nice, I have the HD 3450 in my laptop, with 256MB. It'll do fine for Source-based games, though you may have to turn off AA and fancy stuff.
Eh, I haven't noticed much difference unless you crank the AA to the max anyways.
Just thought I'd update that through the replacement program I got a Hanns-G HW191D to replace my defective Pro-View LCD. All is great so far.
