2GB of ram can help for sure in some games (Battlefield 2 for one) and would probably help overall performance. I would get another gig of ram and a 7800GT (or GTX if you want) then you will be set for some great gaming.
2gb of RAM would certainly benefit very high-end games like Quake4. If you can afford it, go for it.
Yeah, but certainly get that new video card first, it is what's holding back your system at the moment.
ok cool any one know any where to get a 7800 card cheap? in uk mostly or europe not certain usa will fit?
All cards are standard sizes. No matter what country you buy it in, it will fit, assuming you have the correct expansion slots available. (AGP, PCI-E, etc.)
Take a look at www.ebuyer.co.uk, they have some pretty good deals.
ok will do now thanks
yea or if your strapped for that much cash get a 6800 GS. like 100 fps high settings in HL2
Man you got an amazing monitor, with a good graphics card, you can have a fantastic time playing most of the games on high settings and get decent fps as well. Go for a 7800 man!
I didn't make it!
I have almost the same system.
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Amd Athlon 64 4000+ 2GB DDR400 RAM (2x 1024) 160GB SATA 2x GeForce 6600GT SLI OC´ed (25MHz/15MHz OC) 460WATT PSU 19" Flat-Screen HD
I can run SOURCE engine on max settings with average fps (40-50) and I can run BF2 engine on max settings with high fps (60-80)
Yea that system will run most games that are out today. But you should upgrade the graphics card dual 6800GT SLI.
