I have a VA702 LCD monitor, which has worked well for the past 3 years. Unfortunately, now it decided to have neon pixels on it, in a specific area. Whilst I do occasionally enjoy the elaborate color show, which pops up with certain darker colors, I find it irritating enough to think about repairing it/getting a new one.

The strange thing was, that when this started, lowering the frequency helped. Also, for a week, it entirely dissapeared. Now it is back again :(

What do you guys think is the problem, and is it worth fixing the monitor?

I doubt it. You could buy a really nice larger screen for around 200 USD.

Of course, I had a dead pixel right in the middle of my brand new monitor a while back. What did I do? Slid my finger over the area and BOOM, gone.

Don't know if that will work for you, but it could. Haven't had a prob with mine for over 2 years now.

A dead pixel can not be fixed like that.

Only a stuck pixel can.

also yes you can buy a better LCD then to repair it.

They are very cheap.

It's really up to yourself. It's only quite abit cheaper repairing it, than buying a new one. Personally, i'd get a new one. I had a 15" monitor that was beginning to grow old(I got it with my Dell back in 2004) so when i got my new computer(In September '07) i also got a brand new 22" Widescreen LCD. And honestly, i think it's better to get a new monitor than to repair an old one.
