Does anyone know if you get a free renewal of norton antivirus when it comes installed on your computer? I just need to know because i don't plan on purchasing an anti-virus program and it's just a waste of space and an annoyance if im gonna keep a program i can't even run and don't even need on my computer.

So thanks if anyone can help.

I'll answer anyway, since I'm one of the techs.

Generally, Norton gives you a sixty day subcription, and that's it. You need to pay for another year of subscrption service.

However, Norton isn't that great. It gives you a lot of features that you don't need. And it makes Norton need a lot of system resources to run on your computer.

I would do the same.

Try NOD32 or Avast! if your want a good anti-virus, and Zone Alarm Personal if you want a good firewall. They're all free.

I am a tech as well.

We dont even try to sell Nortons anymore. Nortons is such bloated resource sucking hog that it has a special removal tool just to get all the pieces from all the ifferent locations. When removed Norton doesnt do a very good job of picking up after itself.

Sad really, there was a time I swore by Nortons but not any more.

We have great success selling NOD32 and AVG. We even use NOD32 on our servers because it would pick up stuff Nortons corporate ometimes missed.

I also recommend using Zone Alarm.
