*Note: This thread has been posted in the tech section, original location is in the BF 2142 general dicussion* First off my computer's stuff is probably good for about another 6-10 months maximum. I've got this stuff. ASUS P4P800 SE mobo Celeron D 2.8GHZ CPU 1 GB DDR333 RAM 80GB HD Nvidia 6600 256mb VC CTL 17" CRT Monitor Creative Audigy 2 SC Creative Desktop Speakers For today's games BF 2142 Prey Quake 4 Half Life 2: Episode 1 And tomorrow's games Crysis Bioshock Conan World in Conflict I'm here to help. Just tell me the specs of you computer Example: Motherboard CPU RAM HD VC Monitor Sound Card Speakers And I'll give you advice on what to buy. So if you post I'll try to repond ASAP. *Attention* Please tell me the model name of your motherboard (ex. ASUS P4P800 SE, because it'll really help a lot). *Attention* If you are a hard core gamer and know that your computer is good enough and you post here I will not answer to your post. *Attention* If the products I suggest turn out to be not what you wanted remember that the site I use (Newegg.com) has a return policy. Well I can't wait to see what you'd like to ask so don't be shy.
Probably into the new year if I get another stick of ram.
XPS 03, changed up.
2x 512 DDR2 ram BFG nvidea7800GS-OC 3.0GHz Pen.4 Dell mobo. Creative SoundBlaster sound card.
Intel P4 3.2Ghz 1gig of DDR2 RAM eVGA Geforce 6600 256MB cheap ass dell mobo onboard sound
I'd say its still good for another year or so, maybe more; i intend to upgrade to 2 gigs sometime soon
My computer is good enough for the games i play on it, i doubt it would handle many of the new games on high settings well though.
Intel Pentium 4 3.0Ghz (630 64bit) 1GB DDR2 XFX Geforce 7300GT 256MB OC'ed @ 520/780Mhz Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS Intel i925XE Motherboard (Dell)
I had though about getting a non-dell mobo and a new case and overclocking the CPU, but i never seem to have enough money to do that when i want to.
The can take the motherboard out of the computer, but you can't take the computer out of the motherboard, namely intel and dell.
If you replace a mobo you should really just build a new computer its not worth it if you already have after stock parts.
Here's the respnce to CC.: Well looks like your rig makes you a mid-range gamer I guess. The only things I think you need are 2GB of RAM (Wait until July-September 2006 when it'll really be needed) Creative X-Fi http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16829102188 You didn't say what type of DDR2 ram it was so I didn't put a site for that. You also didn't put what kind of SoundBlaster it was so I guessed you didn't have the X-Fi so I put a site for it. Well I hope my suggestions will help you. Also it's cool to see that I'm not the only AGP gamer anymore. GO AGP!!!
Here's the responce to Dragokatzov: Well it looks like you're a budget or mid-range gamer like me. The only things I think you need are 2GB of RAM (Wait until July-September 2006 when it'll really be needed) Nvidia 7600GS or 7800GS 7600GS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814143069 7800GS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814143046 If you plan on making the move to PCI-Express (which I think about 99% of gamers will do by Jan. 2008) then get this Desktop. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16883191010 It's got a lot of good new stuff like 2GB of DDR2 ram and a Blu-Ray drive and also a great 5.1 surround sound system. Well I hope my suggestions will help you.
Here's the responce to -StaticX-: Well it looks like your a mid-range gamer like me. Also you've made the move to PCI-Express which is really good. Here are some suggestions for you to consider. 2GB of Ram Creative X-Fi http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829102188 2.1 surround sound http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16836116179 7600GT http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814143064 or 7900GS http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814143070 Well I hope my suggestions will help you.
Here's the responce to Dragokatzov: Well it looks like you're a mid-range gamer like me sort of. Here's some good upgrades you might want to get. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814143046 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814143069 Also get 2GB of RAM (Wait until July-September 2006 when it'll really be needed) With what you've got now you're good for another 6-10 months like me. With those items you'll probably be good for another 6-10 months more. Well I hope my suggestions will help you.
Lmao I got mine last spring break.
17" monitor 280gig of hd space (with about 30gigs left) 512mb ddr 3200 amd 64 sephron 3000 gforce 128mb 5500 dvd burner and dvd/cdr combo
Even though it's already obsolete I won't be getting another for at least 5 years. There is simply no reason to move up. Who cares if i can play a video game in the highest resolution imaginable. I only play 1 game, UT, every other day for about 15 mins. The biggest thing i use it for is playing around on forums and doing hw. Other than that its just a toy. Until I find something I NEED a faster box to run there just simply isn't a reason to move up.
Here's the responce to Bob L. Scrachy: Well I'll have to disagree to what you've said. I predict by the end of 2007 most gamers will want a DirectX 10 card. So that means a complete overhaul to a new computer. I suggest this one. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16883191010 It's really a good bargain giving all that it has with it. Well I hope my suggestion will help you.
BigJediGuyWell I hope my suggestions will help you. Also it's cool to see that I'm not the only AGP gamer anymore. GO AGP!!!
I would still have a pretty high end AGP system if the mobo in my old Dell didn't die on me, i put a nice All-In-Wonder X800XT in it and about six months later it died. :(
