So, with the release of Conroe, all the other CPU's have been decresing in price.

A good friend of mine, who just bought an X1900XTX was looking for a new CPU since his 3400+ AMD64 was killing him, so he found a 4200X2 for less than 200 dollars!!! I would like a new CPU too, i said, so we ordered 2 cpu's, the 4200 for him and a 3800 for me. The 3800 was about 150 bucks.

So, what kind of performance increase will i see over my 3200+ AMD64? Will it be major or minor?

Well the 3800 is dual core and the 3200 isnt so you already have a large increase in preformance. The 3800 also has great overclockabality. Over all you should see a 60-75% increase in preformance.

Now THAT is damn good to hear :) I know that it will help me get a good FPS in Auto-Assault since it's almost entirely played with physics.

Awesome to hear! the 3800 is an old standby for a good CPU. Don't be afraid to venture into OCing, that CPU can take it.

Then you should see a major improvement over your old CPU. Physics are really hard on the CPU.

Edit: Are you talking about the 3800+ X2 or the 3800 AMD64?

Ahhhh, I have a X2 3800+ and this is a BEAST of an overclocker! I've got mine sitting at FX-60 speeds (2.6Ghz) :nodding: . Also stays cool at 40C.

You prolly will not see an improvement if you get a faster CPU untill you get a better video card than you will see the diffrance ;)

That can't be true

Dual core will DEFINATELY make a HUGE difference. And the fact that the games i play are too EVIL against my currect cpu, then i'm DEFINATELY going to see a LARGE increase. Also, i have Onboard sound, and i will notice less lag since it is powered by the CPU
