i have no idea if this is the right place to get help w/ this, but i'm on a LAN & when i'm on 1 of the host comps i can't get programs to act as servers, but on the host comp i can, don't think its a firewall problem, but then again...

Not sure what you mean by "get programs to act as servers" . Not all programs are meant to work as servers. Programs that run as server also usually don't have all the functionality that there client side counterparts have. Could explain a little more on the problem.

Huh? How many "Hosts" are there? What is THE "Host" computer?

What are you hosting? Are there ANY Clients on this network?

He may be talking about games, in which case he'll need to find out which port the game uses and forward it on his firewall. Check the game's manual for it if it's the case.
