I suggest that if you think you are mature enough to play R18 games, then you are definitely mature enough to get a job.
Buying 2yr old hardware often leads to buying more hardware within 6months. I know that route all too well...
Your best bet is to buy the last generation of hardware when new stuff comes out (ie: Core2 Quads now that i7 is out)
Good general rule, though I don't think I'd apply that to i7, as it really trounces anything (barr gaming) compared to Core 2 Quad, and it's not that much more expensive, especially considering the €300 processor (i920) clocks to 4.0GHz on air.
We're talking about someone getting a $700 laptop...when you bear in mind that to have an equivalent system to the laptop you'd have to get a monitor etc, $300 is a lot of money just for a CPU and the compatible motherboards and RAM really aren't cheap either.
