Unfortunately I don't... I don't know who to recommend, besides Dell, or Gateway.

AlienWare, VoodooPC, and Falcon Northwest make laptops, but expensive ones. I don't know any of the rare places to get a custom laptop.

This "rich" friend of mine bought an AlienWare. They are sooooo cool. He let me borrow it. I loved it.

I hate dells. They are way over priced, and overrated. Along with gateways. I had an Emachines Model that cost about 1500 dollars, with that centrino stuff, and it's great. Dispite the "cheap" Brand.

Well I own a Toshiba Satellite laptop, and I like it. Its nothing special, but it has a DVD drive. I have an older model but here's a link to their Satellite series http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/cfam.to?seg=HHO&coid=-26377&sel=0&rcid=-26367&ccid=1291021 Maybe check out IBM too...

you could get an Apple iBook, those are pretty good, and have good battery life. they start at $999 USD.

you could get: 1.33GHz PowerPC G4 512K L2 cache @ 1.33GHz 14-inch TFT Display 1024x768 resolution 256MB DDR266 SDRAM 60GB Ultra ATA drive SuperDrive ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 32MB DDR video memory AirPort Extreme built-in

which is $1499.99 USD

but you might not want an apple, or you need a windows pc for you class. so yeah.
