another moniter question lol. i have a gateway 17 LCD which is very ncie from about 1 and a half years ago. one day it just totally blacked out and the gateway warrenty had just ran out (gateway=suck). about 3 months ago i brought it from the dusty corner it was in for over 1 year and and called gateway. they wouldnt help but the guy said it may be just a backlight problem. i dont know what this means but if i could go in a store and fix it for 75$ max i would be very happy. so... does anyone know what could be wrong? again the LCD totally blacked out one day. if someone knows what could of happened please tell me if this could be easily fixed.

Could just be wear and tear. The tiny transistors could just have fried in a surge. The shop should be able to tell you what is wrong for free.

ok thanks, would fixing the transistors be easy and cheap or would it take a good amount of money?

you can't fix the trainsistor that Revan speaks of, but the backlight that the support reps mentions can be replaced. its really just a flat squeared cathode light. you see the individiaul pixels don't give off enought light thmselves to be really useful. so a backlight was added to shine light thru the pixles and make them show up brighter. and yes it usually costs around $75 - $150 depoending on the size of the LCD.
