Well been hearing good things about linux and wanted to try out myself sooner or later. So got two live cd's. dreamlinux and shiftlinux

Both work on my desktop, but neither works on my laptop ( MSI GX630 - originally no OS - vista 64-bit installed without issues)

When I boot from the live media, I get into the bootmenu. From there - memtest works without issues, but everything else gives me a kernel panic error - some IO-apic error. With a comment to try and load with noapic.

So after googling around, press f6 in the bootmenu, type in noapic and try to boot again.

This time the error writeout seems to fill the whole screen, again some kernel panic.

Anyone know what to try?
