I believe that happened over 4 months ago. Same people who own TigerDirect own them now.
Too bad their prices kind of suck. Also, the Circuit City has a horrible return policy on hardware.
By back, I would have expected an article on CompUSA opening up, or reopening several store locations.
They never stopped distributing their wares online. They just closed down 70% of their locations.
The problem with CompUSA is they suddenly decided on a whim to turn into a department store, carrying TVs. In selling TVs they got into a market they couldn't compete in with the likes of Fry's and Best Buy selling mass volumes at low sale prices.
When they were just a computer store they actually had pretty decent GPU prices and a good selection of peripherals and game controllers. They even had a pretty good game and software selection too. Maybe part of what killed them is the surge of console over PC gaming though.
