kow_ciller;4922869Because it was monitor limited...

I know that, I'm saying that it would be neat to see what those cards could do at resolutions like 1920x1080, or 2560x1600.

*The.Doctor;4922963Those old Radeon 9000 cards were kick ass back in the day. They pretty much walked all over the Nvidia FX series, they were like the 8800 series for ATI. Hell, the 9800XT could even hold its own with the 6600GT pretty well. Too bad they overheated so easy though....

Yeah, I can't remember exactly what, but their was something specifically wrong with the FX series that degraded performance in games, and it was shown that the older 4 series was much better. But yeah I loved my 9700, it could play Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory at 1600x1200 (not using this LCD) with max AA and AF and everything else, with an average of 29.6 FPS, so it was very playable even at those settings.

I know, crazy isn't it?

Hmm...my 9600 is definitely showing its age, though, anything newer than Far Cry and it craps out, even at lowest settings. But it was good when we got it in 2004.

It seem that prices have already dropped quite a bit for all of the 4000 series cards in the past few weeks.

That is what I said in an earlier post, that AMD had announced drastic price cuts in their graphics cards.

Yeah, after that many years any PC tech is going to be showing its age.

Just think, seven years from now these GTX 295's, Radeon X2's, and i7 CPUs are going to seem like antiques.
