Huh, this is really something. I used to be the biggest person to tell you Apple sucked but after I've bought huge lots of iMacs at auctions and messed around with them a bit and made some money off them, I am much more impressed than I was before. I had a few G3s and I liked them far more than the iMacs and now that I have my G4 (Digital Audio) I really like it. It's only a 466 MHz, 1.5 GB of ram, 40 GB HD, and OS 10.4 but it really runs better than my current PC on XP. I would never use my macs for gaming though, I don't even know of any games I could really put on them. They seem like when operating in the basic OS they're quite stable and usefull. I've only had my G4 for a few weeks and haven't had enough time to really sit down and mess with it and learn about OSX and what all I can do with it. As much as I hate to say it, I'm going to stay neutral on this one. To me, the pluses and negatives of the Mac balance against the PC's.

I must be missing the point here...why on Earth are we talking about dropping Macs here? How often do you throw your PC down the stairs? =p

Any computer you drop will come off worse...even if it's just the case that shatters. I thought most people bought a computer, put it on a desk and left it there...I don't understand why you're talking about walking round with them?!

Had a quick look at PC/Mac towers, here's what I've found...when you two take your computer for a walk, you're better off with a Mac; I'm giving the fairest comparison I can - Mac Pro vs Dell XPS...they're the same idea of computer (towers) but the Pro is more expensive and a hell of a lot more powerful when fully kitted.

My bet would be on the XPS smashing first. Various Plastics and metals vs Titanium...::lookaround: If you're talking about dropping iMacs, firstly, why would you? Secondly, try dropping your 20" Flat panel monitor with some weights attatched =p Hey Presto! Your own iMac smashing experiment.

You obviously have no idea how often hardware can be moved around in a business environment. Nor how often things can get dropped on top of computers (which most computers are fine in that situation, Minis are not). In case you forgot, we were talking about old PowerMacs and iMacs. Not new MacPros and new iMacs. You may think they're obsolete but a lot of people/businesses still use them, and replacing them would be extremely expensive.

All of your questions were answered in previous posts. If you can't be bothered to read them, it's not my problem.

Although, on the plus side a mini does make for a smaller target.

Bs|Archaon Does it have the side panel that's hinged and folds down? Released with a lever on the side? Our G3s have them, very cool.
Yeah, its the same as the B&W G3.
and now that I have my G4 (Digital Audio)

I have the Digital Audio as well. I have the 733Mhz model though, with 1GB ram, a 60GB HD, and a 120GB HD. Does yours have the Geforce 2 MX in it?

I've been looking for a cheapo Geforce 4 or decent Radeon for it (eBay), and had thought about getting a G4 upgrade card but i think i'm just going to get a new Intel mac someday. If i could find one cheap enough though, i would probably go for.

Yeah, you missed the point. What we are saying is that when you pick them up to move them, the handles can break in your not careful, and then it falls.

Nah, it has an ATI Rage Pro I think. In any case, I have handled several G3s and none of the handles have ever came off or even been loose. I would be pretty POed if that happened to me though.

Let's all bare to mind the fact that this shit happens weather its an Ipod to a grill stuff sometimes is built weak, doesn't mean that it is always like that most comps I have had where kick ass the mac mini sucked, but others may be different.
