I'm trying to start some machinama, (Most of you should know, movies made in game) and ive downloaded the starter package or whatever it is, but it only seems compatible with the built in version of quake 2. Is there any way to do it with other PC games (jedi academy, Halo, etc.)

Fraps is probably your best bet.

Maybe but the filesize is so damn huge. a 30 second movie with bad quality sound thats 100mb...no thanks. I suppose I could splash out and buy the full version, but I want to know I have something to wrok for before I jump into it.

After Fraps makes an AVI, you can convert it into MPEG or DivX or other formats to bring the filesize down to around 1Mb/30 seconds of film.

I have "for the originating website only" checked as a "load images" option, so I didn't see the edit link.

In FRAPS, after you make your movie (30 seconds max with the freeware version) Use Virtual Dub to compress it. You can get V Dub at http://www.virtualdub.org/
