i need a good program that is free and can get rid of spyware, viruses, trojans, and pretty much everything else that can possibly infect a computer. I'm fixing a friend's computer up, and he has a LOT of viruses, trojans, and other stuff on his computer. I'm about 1/5 done with doing an active scan on pandasoftware.com and it has detected 9 viruses, 215 spyware programs, and 9 hacking tools and rootkits. It would also help if it does not conflict with norton internet security.

Get Kaspersky, it is a amazing anti-virus. It tells you EVERYTHING that happens on your computer, form if something trying to download on to you or somethings trying to load up without permission. Its a amazing scanner and detecter.

Sweet Jesus what have you been doing with your computer!

Get Spybot - Search & Destroy and Ad-aware.

They should remove the Spyware and make sure you update them.

Sure, Heres a link to the free-trial downloads: http://www.kaspersky.com/uk/trials It gives you 30 days of it, if your happy with it. You can then purchase it, free updates are available.

Migrate him over to Firefox once you have finished, it will save you doing this in a few months time. Also, if he is using outlook express migrate him to Thunderbird foor good measure.

If he refuses to use them then don't argue, but make it clear that your not going to sort the mess out next time if he goes on as usual. If you don't then your going to spend the rest of your life sorting his PC out for him.

Not that I have ever been in the same situation of course... :D
