o.k, here's the deal. i would like a graphics card that will provide o.k graphics without breakin the bank. every were i look, there's a million graphics cards, and i don't know what to look for ! i'm a humble mmo player, and i would enjoy fairly good graphics, while spendin the other money i would save from picking the right card for the subscription fee. i'm not a brainy computer dude ( not that there bad!) so when i look at the specs and stuff, i'm lost. in fact, i bought a graphics card to be able to play a game, and it turned out i had the wrong kind! so i had to buy another super cheap card because i spent the rest of my funds on the other game . if it helps, the game i'm tryin to play is star wars galaxies.( and yes, i know the new combat uprade will make a jedi's life harder). any help would be great, and any cards that you know that would be pefect for this, let me know too. thank you all for helpin a noob like me.:bows:

Well what is your price range? do you want PCI, AGP, or PCI-express? I am planning on selling my 9600pro 256mb in a few months for a 6800gt. The 9600pro's run $120 on newegg, but they will play SW:G at full settings.

So how much money "breaks the bank"? I've got an AGP 6600GT in this tower, and it's good enough to turn in 30fps in Galaxies in all but the most crowded or active areas. I'm guessing, by the fact that you're worried about cost, you don't have a newer PC and therefore will need an AGP card. AGP 6600GT's have dropped considerably lately; the MSI unit I have is going for just over $190 on Newegg right now.
i have a pci, price range will very to be honest. if there is a desent card for 120 bucks, then thats my price range. but if there's one cheaper and that does the same thing, then that will work too. really, i would like some guide lines when looking for a card. i don't want something that runs doom 3 like a dream when i'm playin mario bros. thanks for the video card offers, but i have no clue what they are. a description would be nice, thank you.

well if its PCI, i believe your choise is very limited, to only an FX5200 or a Radeon 9250 at best, they are both very cheap cards because PCI is a very old graphics interface which has been replaced by AGP and which right now is being replaced by PCI-e. i suggest this: http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102434 btw, im british so i dont visit newegg often, but when i was looking there i seen a PCI FX5700le and a 5500... can u really get these in PCI or is it a mistake?
ok. i was lookin at the radeon card made by ati, when i saw the same card on the same website with a different brand (powerlight) and a different price. is it the same? or is this a cheap remake that isn't as good as the ati?

could you post a link of the two cards you're mentioning?

you can get a 5700 LE on newegg for $80 or a ATI 9800 Pro for $150. Both of these cards will be fine but they wont be "premium" for half life 2, doom 3 ect.
