Hey guys.

I am baffled by this problem. As of recent I have been receiving severe video lag spikes in all games, online and off. They occur about once every minute and a half or so, and last for around 3 - 5 seconds depending on the game.

I can recreate the crash on all games I have tested, which are:

  • Sam and Max Ep. 4
  • DoD Source
  • HL2
  • TF2

This only started happening about a week or so ago - around the time I updated I think, but I'm not whether it was before or after.

It doesn't do it while browsing around Windows, but whilst writing this message I have noticed it happening every minute or so. It seems FireFox is also affected.

I have tried to get the logs from Sandra, but it is BSODing. Something is definitely wrong here.

Any help is much appreciated and rewarded with rep.

A background app perhaps? Your A/V app, spyware/malware/adware are possibilities.

Zamamee;4343240All hardware specs mb?[/quote] As I say, SANDRA is crashing. I did put it on Xfire, but it's brief.

Manufacturer: Medion Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 @ 2.66GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.7GHz Memory: 2046MB DDR3 Hard Drive: 500 GB Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GS Monitor: Medion Sound Card: Realtek HD Speakers/Headphones: Dolby Digital 2.1 Keyboard: Generic Mouse: itXTREME USB Powered Wireless Mouse Mouse Surface: Mat Operating System: Windows Vistaâ„¢ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6000) (6000.vista_gdr.071009-1548)

...apparently.

Going to disable all and try adding one at a time tomorrow, but I don't think that's the cause.

EDIT: Okay, cleaned GFX drivers and installed new ones, will test out tomorrow.

Mods please merge this post.

Not tested on games, but neither Firefox nor iPlayer are stalling so that must be good, right?

It seems that fixed it. On TF2 at least.
