I'm going to be putting in my order for a MacBook Pro pretty soon, and one of the options has me a bit confused. I can either choose a matte screen, or glossy. I know what some say about both, but I'm looking for the opinions of this group, as I tend to trust you guys more than Apple when it comes to reviews of certain features.

Glossy just makes everything shiny but you will have some troubles with it since it will shine back at you if you have light shining onto it.

I would assume that matte is like a normal LCD and glossy would be like the glass of a CRT monitor. It's up to you, but I'd go with matte. I've got lights behind me and my old CRT bothered me with glare.

if your using it under school or university lighting during class, or in your room, then hit up the matte. if its a desktop replacement go for glossy.

portable will be matte.

I would go for matte for a portable system. Glossy not only reflects light and creates a glare, it also shows fingerprints and other smudges a lot worse. If I rub my fingers over my PC monitor (matte) it doesnt cause any issues, if I touch the screen on my iPod or more commonly, the touch screen on my DS Lite, both with glossy screens, the smudges drive me crazy. I have to keep a cleaning cloth in my DS Lite carrying case to clean off the smudges on the touch screen every so often.

Definately matte. Unless you want to be blinded by reflections.

Excellent choice on the MacBook Pro, by the way. One of my friends has one - that's one sexy laptop.
