I just got a HP Pavilion desktop PC and it seems to be running rather poorly. There are no viruses, adware or spyware and I don't have a million programs running.
The specs are: A 3.06 GH Pentium 4 processor. 512 MB of memory. 200 gig hardrive. Also I put one of my old memory sticks in my pc, but it didn't seem to register it and I really think 512 MB is really inadequate.
Well can anyone help me???:(
Hmm, maybe they used cheap RAM? No idea though I'm not an expert. Try buying new RAM if you have the money. And i hink 512 is fine, although its the minimum. EDIT: I dont think this has anything to do with it but what is your videocard? I bet an integrated.
I seriously doubt that HP uses "cheap" RAM. It is def the video card, find out if you have PCI-E or AGP. Then start looking midrange 6600GT or 6800 Baseline if you got money get a 6800GT.
And I hope you didnt damage your memory slots by putting in the wrong pin memory...
Nah I don't think I damaged them, but I am going to take that memory back out.
Video graphics: Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 900 with up to 128MB shared video memory. Thats the card I have.
one thing i hate about HP comps. They have a shitload of extra/stupid software installed on the stock machine. I would use use hijackthis to get a list of running processes, and figure out what you dont want. they really do load your comp down with promos, demos, lots of crap
