Hi everyone, I'm new here and I need help with this sim. I've got the old one, #1, and I was running it on my Win Me. Now I've for an XP Pro SP2 and it's no good for this coomputer. They have a new one out called #3 but I'm not sure if I have everything I need to run it. It needs a processor between 500 to 733 MHz and I have 550 so I guess I'm ok there. It needs a 32 MB 3D card with hardware T&L support. I don't know about that, I had a look and this is what I've got. Sapphire RADEON x600 Pro 256 MB Sapphire RADEON x600 Pro 256 MB secondry. I think the second one is there because I have two hard drives but I don't know anything really about the tech stuff. Does anyone know if they're 3D cards, and if they're good enough? Get this, I called a Microsoft game support site where the calls are supposed to be free. The woman there wanted $35 before she'd connect me with a tech. I was polite and told her all I wanted to know was would my computer support their game so I could buy it. She still wanted that money. I said look, the game is only about 20 bucks and you want anoher 35 just to tell me if I can buy it? Forget it! That's really a miserable attitude!
It will work very well, I'm sure. the x600 is alot more than it requires, and 256MB of RAM is great. Don't bother with Microsoft Tech Support - ask here - it's free, and we know an awful lot more than bums at the Microsoft call centre with their 'frequently asked questions' pamphlet.
Hey thanks Reven! yeah, I'll stay here, don't like those other folk. Bet she can't even fly a plane.
I looked for my post and it had disappeared then I saw it and your reply in my CP. That's pretty weird. :D

Did you post it in the Tech Forum? http://forums.filefront.com/forumdisplay.php?f=398
If she can't even fly a plane, then she would probably have a time with the Microsoft Flight Simulator series. I don't know too much about the Combat Flight Simulator series, but it says its still a sim.
The MS Flight Simulator is used by professionals, to train pilots for real life. Flying 747s for national, and international airlines. It is just that real. It is considered to be among the most realistic flight sims in existance. Graphics aren't the best though, they apparently are not too important in Flight Sims...
Jane's Flight Simulators are a good alternative. Many people considered them to be the best. You might want to keep an eye out for some of those games.
Jane haven't released any decent ones recently. MS Flight sims are the best, and graphics aren't really important. It's system-friendly since really the only graphics needing rendered when flying are the cockpit and a few clouds. Many people find their computer lags at takeoff when they're on the high texture city ground but runs flawlessly at altitude. Anyway, to do with flight sims, my favourite is CFS3. Unlike CFS2, it has a 'dynamic front', which reacts to your actions. So if you're a real flying ace, you could end the war a few years short. It's really good.
Hi there Monster_user and Reven. I came here to make a comment and saw your posts. I'd better go look in my CP and adjust it because I didn't get a notice in my email.
Nah Monster_user, I must have posted that first one here, I was still having problems finding my way around but it's okay now. I don't have the true MS Flight Simulator and I've heard about it being the best for real pilots. Mine is just a game really although it's supposed to be as realistic as it comes. I do have a Jane's pack that includes the ATF Stealth fighter, the USNF'97 Navy fighter and the Apache Longbow attack helicopter but it's no good on my new XP Pro SP2. I'm going to have to buy new games I guess.
I don't know about that CSF3 Reven, I'll take a look for it. I feel like finishing a few wars for them. About my new Combat Flight Simulator 3: Battle for Europe, and this is why I dropped back today, I think it sucks. I am having a bit of trouble with it but that may just be that I need a driver upgrade so I'll look at that later. It won't let me read the manual and that's in Adobe Reader and I have v6.0 so it can't be my fault. But mostly I'm disappointed with the sims overall, not very good compared with the old original one that I have here apart from the instrumentation which is great. I miss blowing up those old DC3s. :D I think I'll have to set the old computer up somewhere just to play sims. What I'm looking for now is a sim with the old Sunderland Flying Boat, that's the old huge British seaplane they had down in the South Pacific during WW 2. It was a passenger liner that flew between the islands. But I doubt if that's out there. Have a good weekend and don't party too much!

your crazy if you would choose csf3 over the il2 series. Its so much better and more realistic. But to answer your question, you get overkill, but hey now if you want better games they will run...like IL2 :P
Well Vertical, seeing I don't even know what an IL2 is, I may or I may not be crazy. Guess I'll just have to live with it.
But to clarify, I don't know much about games period. I do some sims is all. ;)
Il-2 Sturmovik is a game featuring the Il-2 and other Russian planes on the Eastern Front. If you want familiar planes and more areas, go for CFS3.

what are you talking about? it doesnt feature russian planes on the eastern front, it features western and eastern front with british, russian, german, and american. and if you get the aep expansion and pacific fighters expansion you get all western, eastern, and pacific with added US navy planes and IJN and IJA planes.
