IE7 Separated from Windows Explorer

An anonymous reader writes "Security experts warned Microsoft 10 years ago that putting IE as a component of Windows Explorer was a bad idea, looks like Microsoft finally decided to listen to the advice. According to a short write up in Business Week, Microsoft has decided that when IE7 comes out with Vista it will no longer be a component of Windows Explorer and will be able to replace IE6 even on XP machines." http://slashdot.org/articles/06/03/22/1817258.shtml

Nice to see Microsoft learning from its mistakes. No more intergrated Web Browser. So if you don't want it any more you can kill it for good now.

Or if you DO want it, it should be much easier to use it, and keep your system secure.

I'm sorry, but I can't help but say your comment is quite ignorant. "Microsoft did something good for once." -What does this mean? Microsoft has done alot for the computer industry, as well as donating unthinkable amounts of money towards charity. It's created a new generation in the stock market, as well as provide overwhelming support for security. Please think about morals rather than technology when making such a conspicious statement.

Yeah IE7 is hella fast. Seems pretty stable for a beta too. But I still unstalled it, just IE scares me, even though they were "post" to fix its wholes I don't wanna take any chances.

@w3Collapse

What does that mean? Means they did something good software wise. They hardly ever do anything good software wise.

Name one thing they did wrong? Besides Internet Explorer. Microsoft AntiSpyware worked perfectly for keeping simple spyware out. It's not their job to make sure people don't download viruses, yet they try and help anyways. Their Microsoft Suite and/or Office is a great success too... powerfull programs.

You mean besides releasing an operating sytem with security flaws so enormous that you could fly a jumbo jet thru them? Give me a minute, I'm sure I'll think of something....

I'll wait and see on IE7. Firefox hasn't done me wrong yet, unlike IE6, Windows Media Player, MS Messenger.....

So what exactly does that mean? You can delete explorer for good?
