steelGrunt;3341796Can someone clear this up for me... I checked these links and the mobo that he had listed wont support the core 2 duo or am I just going crazy... I looked like 3 times and I didnt see is listed???
P965 was designed specifically for Conroe.
so I am confused i guess... will a core 2 duo work in my asus p5nd2 sli mobo? Its not a P965 i think... But if not is worth buying a just a dual core p8... I guess will i be able to tell from a p4.
No, nForce4 doesn't support Conroe. It's good up through Smithfield, and might support Presler as well. But not Conroe.
So would a PD make a big difference from my P4 both 3.2g.
Now I'm confused is the mother board I picked out the one that dosen t support the Conore I picked out!?
The board you chose has the P965 chipset, which supports Core 2 Duo.
Ok .. just to clear up some confusion on the reinstall of the os issue. ( i will leave the board and chip to C3, archon and them LOL ) When changing your motherboard, if the chipset is different, you will UNDOUBTABLY need to REINSTALL your OS. It has a lot to do with hardware registry and the parts themselves. I am speaking from expeiriance. You have a chance of it working. Worse comes to worse you can start it and see what happens. In most cases you will get a hardware (bluescreen) error.
I am so uber-l33t. Oh, wait, I mean I can use a search engine. Yeah, that's what I meant. Not l33tness or anything, basic internet usage...
Examples include Intel's 875P P965 and 975X, nVidia's nForce line.
Bingo ... it is like having a key to your old house and you wanting to use it for your new house. It isn't going to work. You need to change the key ....
