Hey all i have a quick question.. i have a free motherboard.. and i was wondering ( it used in an XP machine) i was wondering if i swapped it out with my current mobo ( xp) and tured it on will it work properly? it would be going from an MSI board to an ATI board.. will i encounter any porblems? i knwo how to install parts i jsut dont know if i swpa them wil i run into difficulties in boot up and in windows and if everythign will work properly. both are AMD 3500. I have a Phenom 9600 but the socket is a 939 so i need AM2+ so for now i want the MOBO cause it has a PCIE slot for my ATI 3870 and 4 slots availble for PC3200 ram.. cause this board only accepts I think PC 4000+ and above and i only hav a ram in that comapred to my 3gigs of Pc3200. so i was wondering if i was abkle to do this before is started teh task.

Generally, it's always a good idea to reinstall Windows for something as major as a motherboard swap, especially if it's switching to a different chipset, like an ATI chipset.

As for the memory, the board should be able to take the RAM you have as long as the pin numbers are correct, but you can check online of the motherboard you are planning to swap for to make sure of supported RAM.

Hope I could help. :)
