Hey all - So i'm going to be upgrading to a new mobo in a few days, and i have major concerns regarding my hard drive and my current xp settings, etc. does anyone know of a thorough mobo upgrade for winxp guide that i can take a look at so i know what exactly it is that i am doing ? also, is it mandatory to make a thorough harddrive back-up + do a fresh winxp install ? how do i do this if these 2 things are necessary. I've looked at quite a few mobo upgrading guides already and noticed that some didnt mention the task to these things... any suggestions, help, encouragement, etc. is gratefully appreciated. thanks all.

Always have to recommend that you use good ESD prevention, meaning keep your self grounded and your comp case grounded while you touch you electronincs. Backups are not mandatory before any type of hardware upgrade, but its is a good idea. you should not have to do a fresh windows install after you replace your modo.

thanks for the suggestions... i'm still going to search through a few tutorials/ guides and decide on what needs to be done based on the majority of similar steps i suppose.
