Ok, here's my problem: I have Joi internet service, an Intel(R) 536EP V.92 Modem, and my connection speed is 28.8 KPS.
I want my speed to be 56 KPS, but I don't know what to do, should I replace my modem, and if so, with which kind?
Try a driver upgrade first, be nice to a friend with Internet, goto the Intel website, WindowsUpdate then DriverFile.com and see if there are an updated drivers. Another thing could be a bad quality phone line and it can only connect at 28.8 because the signal is weak. Beware that no 56k connection ever get to 56kbps, normally around 40-45. Last, you're not alone. Every (yes every) modem I've installed, I've had problems with. ~sigh~ Hope this helps.

40kbps
32kbps seems to be normal for us. It why we moved, and got DSL.
Yep, normally on my PC i get 45 if not 47.7 -- I got bband too (1mb ADSL) so its 115.2!
