I dunno if this should really be in tech, but i think it would be:nodding:

Im getting xbox live tomorrow(finally:D ) and I need to use a ethernet cord. Well, my ethernet cord is what I use for my adsl, its connected to the modem and computer so if I pull it out of the comp and into the xbox, will I lose my internet settings, like the modem details. I dont want it to think its a new modem everytime I plug it back in and have to find the drivers and crap.

so in short, if i pull the ethernet cord out, will the internet still work finewhen i plug it back in?

It should work just fine when you plug it back in. Unless you have a very wierd modem. You should just buy a hub for 10$ that way you can have both the computer and xbox online at once and its okay for lan. But I use a switch myself.

Works by copying the IP onto numerous ports (effectively doubling up so you can connect many different devices).

If you have Windows XP, you need to configure Internet Connection Sharing if you arn't using a router/hub. It works fine in my setup, and I can leave the cord in or not with no fuss. The only downside to ICS is that to play on Live you need to have your computer on (but hey - you could have a few strategies up or cheats.....). Good Luck
