My monitor constantly changes brightness (not much but enough to notice it keeps going back and forth flickering). It can't be my video card because when I hook up another monitor its fine. I checked the connection, it's fine, checked wires, there fine. I tried changing the refresh rate and that didn't solve anything. I also tried changing brightness, contrast, digital vibrance, all those options. Anyone have any idea's? Also updated video card drivers (have a 8800 GT OC).
What model monitor is it, and how old is it?
It's probably bust.
This is what it looks like (not my picture). http://www.smugmug.com/photos/232542049-M.jpg But for the model number I can't find it anywhere. Looked all over the net, and all around my monitor. :(
If it's bugging you, I'd say it sounds like it's time to upgrade and get an LCD. Not really much you can do, it's starting to reach it's first sign of age. How long have you had it?
Yeah,, those old CRT's don't have a particularly long lifespan.
I know two people who have had theirs catch fire ;)
I'd say the monitor is bust, and an upgrade is your best bet.
Yea I guess your right, I wouldn't mind another flat screen CRT but could you guys show me some cheap ones?
What size are you looking for? 17", 19", 20", 22"? What price range do you consider as "cheap" as well? Some people have strange ideas for that word.
Oh sorry lol, it doesn't really matter the size, just 17" or bigger, I just want a flat screen really. I think cheap is around $50.
That's a good concept of cheap. Unfortunately, not a realistic one though. Although i suppose it will differ on where you live...
Down here in Aussie-land you can get a 19" for $200, and that's a 'cheap' one.
Hmm, only LCD you'll find for that price is an as-is on eBay, stated as not working. As far as I know, the only cheap CRT's you're only going to find at a resale shop, garage sale, or ebay (but you'll get killed with the shipping.)
