Lately whenever i switch my monitor on... It goes onto the green light but nothing comes up then within a few seconds it goes back to the amber light and im just sitting there irate in my seat . It comes on eventually but switching my PC on & off about 10 times is annoying and cant be good for the hopeless rig! Does anyone know whats going on. Also the PC itself switches on just not the monitor & it is a 15 inch TFT Packard Bell monitor... Thanks
First, check that the monitor lead is securely attached to the rear of your PC. If it's firmly secured, but still doesn't work, try testing the PC on a different (spare) monitor. If you still get no luck, it could be a problem with your graphics card - either a loose connection or something worse.
Hmm. Do you have a spare video card lying around? Doesn't have to be anything spectacular, just enough to get you into the BIOS. Take a look at the onboard video settings in the BIOS, make sure nothing looks awry. If everything checks out, the I'd say that you've got a dodgy integrated chip. They do go down, my Dad's PC's IGP bunt out not so long ago. In which case, you may be looking at a new graphics card. The motherboard itself, though, should be unaffected, however if you notice any weird behaviour, it may be best to replace that as well.
There no point im getting a new pc by the end of this year... ill just have 2 make do till then :(. Thanks anyway
