just recently, my monitor gets "squigly", sorta like its not getting enough power or something, like when you turn a vacum on in the same plugin as your TV, and your tv screeen gets all wierd, its not realy fuzzy i dont know how to describe it it just started up a few days ago, but when it does theres nothing hapening to explane it, no power sugre or anything, im not loading progams, havent got any new progams its the same Dell monitor ive had for a few years, sometimes the cpu makes a noise though, like its trying to do something

That's the hard drive thrashing around.

Are you running the monitor through an analogue or digital connection?

Are there any powerlines that sit next to your monitors video cable? That could cause the interference that you describe.

This is a (Pentium 4) CPU. Only a couple of inches across. p4_478fb.jpg

Being pedantic aside, I'd go with marvin that it could be interference. Mobile phones and the like play havoc with my LCD screen. It's also worth checking that the connectors are all secure. Alternatively, the monitor might be dying.
