I am thinking about getting a Samsung 710N LCD monitor with 8ms response time. I have heard this is good with gaming. Will i see any ghosting on good games like BF2 and how much? is it worth saving my money and getting a CRT monitor. Cause they do not ghost right? how much better will the LCD look than the CRT. they would both be 17'

The Samsung will work fine with no ghosting. The CRT will give you more coler clarity and depth. The CRT also will give you the option to adjust it's picture more than the LCD. The CRT uses up more power and takes up more space. The LCD will save you space, and normally lessen the straining of your eyes. LCD's generally give you blurry images outside of the native resolution. I would still go with the LCD. BTW, what are you paying for your 710n? On Dell's website they have a 17" for $261.75. Dell's (monitors) are often praised for their quality and performance. Edit: Here's the link for the Dell monitor.

A CRT will look MUCH better than even the best LCD, period. The advantage of an LCD is that its lighter, easier on the peepers and umm... thats it. The advantage of a CRT is that it has better resolution, better color, and is CHEAPER. You decide!

CRT will never die!!! I had a LCD flat monitor and ended up selling it because I am a gamer! The LCD is nice, (like a Cadillac), but I wanna get dirty (like with a Hummer). If you are not a gamer, the LCD will be for you, but if you are a gamer, then get a good CRT!

CRT monitors are considered better for gaming, but you can't beat the size and weight of a LCD, anything LCD with a refresh time under 16ms is suitable for gaming i think. Those Dell Ultrasharps are nice monitors, i want one, my 17" dell CRT can get hard on the eyes sometimes.

Ok, the dell LCD that was suggested had a 25ms response time so that wouldnt be good for gaming, right? I have pretty well decided on a samsung 930B, would this be good on gaming, it is better than the 910 right? it would be awsome for gaming, correct? I don't have a lot of desk room for a CRT. how much better would a CRT be? I am gonna hold a vote later in another thread on if people think i should get CRT or LCD.

eh, no. You would see ghosting with that, anything under 16ms response time would be good for gaming.
