Hey, I was thinking about bumpin up my current video card. I want to stay cheaper, like the 100-150 dollar range. I basically want more mb's on it. So do you think say, a Geforce 5700 256 mb card would be a good buy for my situation?

Ive heard bad things about 5700s, i would go for a 9600XT, i have one and it owns my bros 5700 and their around the same price too. Get that, or a 9800.

hey yellowhampster you seem to know what your talking about when it comes to video cards, I need to move up from my 128mb Nvidia Gforce 5600, but want to stay under $250 what would you recommend, I want to go for a 256mb card though.

I dont know THAT much. Ok, i assume thats Ozzie dollars? well i bought my 256mb 9600XT for $245 i think. I am having no problems with it, it plays most modern games good. Great budget card i would say. I run HL2, CSS with high settings and 2X AA, but i could go higher. Doom 3 ran on high quite nicely. I think its a good buy. This is the link to were i got it. http://www.jw.com.au/products_closeup.asp?part=AGP+A+Series&part_no=823

Will it affect my gaming, or mess with my current settings switching brands? I know i'll have to download the drivers and what not, but will it change anything else going ATI?

nope, just make sure you clear any old nvidia drivers and what not first.
