How come my athlon 64 3000+ runs at 2.0gh and on the internet everyone says they are 1.8?

It is because your athlon is socket 754 3000+. Stok Freq is 2.0ghz stock. 939 models of teh 3000+ are stock at 1.8ghz

No, it's not better. It's memory controller is single channel, it has an 800MHz HTT, and is based on the 130nm Newcastle core. As for overclocking... the only way to find out is to try.

No, it means that your Athlon 3000+ has to run 200Mhz faster than the new socket 939 3000+ processers to equal there performance. For overclocking, a 130nm Newcastle is not the best there is, but you could probably get it to 2.2Ghz at least, but like C3 said, only way to find out is to try it.

Thanks, so when they say "venice" next to there athlon they mean the newer 939 socket? So mines a "newcastle", lol.

They have different names, it's to do with the way they're made. They are all basically the same, but have small differences in things like size and process.

The venice core is an improved version of the winchester core. So yea Venice/winnie= 939. Newcastle/Clawhammer(?)= 754
