So in a fit of rage I tore them apart piece by piece }>

So now I'm looking for a new pair, any suggestions on good brands?

Probably a broken wire...I dunno, something on the cheap end that is reliable. Sony and Koss usually do fine by me.

Whats your budget?

I saw some Audio Technica refurbs a few days ago for $60+ shipping which is an amazing deal.

Well seeing as how Christmas is almost here, my budget will soon be in that area, so thanks for the suggestion :)

Are you looking for just headphones or a headset with a microphone? Virtual surround sound or just stereo?

In any case, do you want open or closed-ear headphones? They're both good, but for different things. Open-ear sets generally have better soundstages, and arguably, better quality. I personally prefer these. Closed-ear sets have greater sound isolation but quality tends to suffer somewhat.
