bacicaly my pc when i play a game e.g bridge commander or battlefield to some thing like that the game plays for a bit then some times my pc locks up and i need to restart or the screens go black and say input not suported this started to happen two days ago and i have reformated it today and it is still hapening so i have come to the conclusion it was the hardware the only lead i had is that my harddrives are getting very hot and i dont think it is my CPU do any of you have any idea how i can fix this proplem?
It certainly sounds as though it could be heat related. But bear in mind freezing can be a lot of things. What are your specs m8?
Do you notice the display acting up before the pc freezes? Any black patches or odd shapes? These can also be good indicators of a hot system.
If it is an Nvidia card, wait till the pc freezes and upon restart take a look in the Nvidia Control Panel and see how hot it is right away. It should only have dropped a few degrees. ATI i am not to sure about its been a while since i owned one.
Hope this helps m8, get back to us though and let us know your pc specs as it can be a lot quicker getting possible answers to your problem.
do you want a dxdiag?
According to that dxdiag, you have a Radeon X1650. To me it sounds like your video card may be overheating, try taking the side off your case and put a floor fan up to it and see if it still happens.
I'm not sure if ATI has temp monitoring in the Catalyst Control Center yet, check to see if they do, and if its there, report what the temps after you game for a bit.
You did do a proper clean install of the ATI drivers right?
the graphics card has a amazing fan on it as seen hereit is highly unlikely its the card but i will give it a try.
Amazing my ass lol. Better than stock, but still...
i was on about the fan it is good it blows the air out of the case not back into the case inturn keeping the case cooler.
So was I. Arctic Cooling stuff isn't as brilliant as most people seem to think. However, I agree with you that it's probably not the card overheating that's causing the problem - I'm only being pedantic over you calling it 'amazing' (which it isn't).
fair enogh but it isnt bad eaither (excuse spelling)
what kind of case do you have?
