After talking with Kow_Killer on xfire for a while, I decided to change my rig, and I think I'm getting a better deal here:

Asus M3N72-D Motherboard - NVIDIA 750a SLI, Socket AM2/AM2+: $139.99

AMD Athlon 64 X2 5800+ Processor ADA5800IAA5DO - 3.0GHz: $69.99

ZEROtherm / Butterfly BTF90 / Socket 775/754/939/AM2 / Copper Base / Heatpipes / CPU Cooler: $39.99

OCZ Reaper HPC Dual Channel 2048MB PC9200 DDR2 1150MHz Memory (2 x 1024MB): $39.99

Corsair TX650W 650-Watt Power Supply - ATX: $89.99

Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 Video Card - 512MB GDDR5: $164.99

Seagate Barracuda ST3160813AS 160GB: $39.99

Sony DRUV200A/BR DVD/CD Rewritable IDE Retail Drive: $39.99 X 2

Apevia Silver X-Cruiser Case ATX Mid-Tower Case with Clear Side: $79.99

Total Cost: $744.90

EDIT: I'll have to buy the CPU heatsink/fan seperate =p, but it's still a better deal :)

Loose the zerotherm, ram, motherboard and cpu. Also get a sata dvd-rw.

Why IDE optical drives? Why only 160GB of HDD space? And why the hideously powerful PSU?

The hard drive should at least be doubled. 320 GB should be plenty for a while, but 160 gb will disappear quite fast.

I wouldn't say the PSU is overkill though.

Well, he's gone AMD, so we know kow was talking to him. =p

I wouldn't say the PSU is hidiously powerful, but it's probably a little more than is needed for this rig, and as he's on a budget, every bit counts, so go for something around the 550W range.

Get a bigger harddrive 320GB at least. You might as well also get a SATA DVD drive, it won't make much difference, but you might as well have the up-to-date standard. Also, you don't need 1150MHz RAM. Just get 800MHz and overclock yourself. Reapers will hit 1150 themselves easy no matter what frequency they're at stock.

I'm using that CPU because it's AM2+ socket, and the motherboard will only use the full speed of the ram if the CPU is AM2+.

EDIT: Actually the CPU is AM2 so I will only get 800mhz max out of the ram, and I just found an AMD Athlon X2 7850 Black Edition Processor AD785ZWCGHBOX - 2.80GHz and if I get that I'll be able to take full advantage of the ram, so is it worth getting the dual core with .2 ghz less then the AM2 cpu in order to get the max speed of the ram?
