Kay, so I bought a Samsung Writemaster External DVD drive, used it once, and made a DVD. I thought i died and went to heaven, because i'd never had a DVD drive before. Then, I used it on my friends computer and it worked fine. I went and put it back on my computer, and my PC won't detect it. I'm new to the PC world, i'm about to build a gaming computer, but i dont know whats wrong with this thing. Any suggestions?

Did you stick it back in the External drive or your PC's drive?

Hmmm, assuming you didn't make any errors yourself, an exteranl drive should be made convenient enough to carry back and forth, plug in and out, and still be detected. Unless it's a new model that may have a glitch and need a firmware update perhaps it's that you're running Vista maybe and there are some conflicts that need to be patched in. For now, I would do this. Go to Device Manager and see if it's listed there. If there's still detection problems go through the Windows InstallShield process if you have to. Check Device Manager again if it installs and make sure the drive is listed there. Reboot, and check DM again when desktop loads. If you get no device not found message unplug it then plug it back in. If still no message and it's listed in DM, hopefully problem solved. If not, call the manufacturer's tech support and see if the problem is known, in their dartabase, and a firmware update is forthcoming.
