Now theres a good breakdown of a good system, the ABIT "IC7-G MAXII ADVANCE" is another really good mobo too, good choise of brand all around. leaves room in the price to upgrade to 1024 RAM also, or a second hard drive, maybe both. Solid Snake, If you want an Intel system that sounds like the linup for you then.

Ooooo ahhhhhh. *Claps* Thanks! Would it be possible to still get it under $2,000 with an ATI Radeon card and a 17" LCD monitor?

Don't buy a cheap LCD monitor, you will regret that as soon as you start up the first game. A decent LCD costs between 400 and 600 Euro. As for all the other stuff, I suggest an AMD-cpu and a ATI gfx card. Both are usually cheaper and more powerful than their Intel/Nvidia counterparts. What is more you don't need this more expensive 3200 RAM, which is not much better than other DDR RAM but more expensive (AFAIK).

Edit: Why the hell are you guys suggesting a LCD with 25ms reactiontime? He wants to play Doom III on it.

A little tip, don't take advice from people who suggest such a LCD too seriously (sorry to those guys, but this stuff really isn't very good for gaming). If the other stuff has the same quality you can kiss Doom III goodbye :) For actiongames you need a LCD with low reaction times, like 16ms. Even LCDs which are supposed to have 16ms can leave ugly slurs on the screen when you e.g. turn your alter ego quickly.

This guy knows what he is talking about. Though I would perhaps replace the monitor with a Samsung Synchmaster and spend the last remaining money for a faster gfx card :) Apart from that THIS is the kind of system you want to get.

...And I'm 16 ;) Hehe, Thanks. I've always been partial to nVidia but I know the 9800PRO will play certain newer games better than the FX series, hehe. Viewsonic has been the big name in my world, never used a Samsung but I have heard good things about them :) ...boy, I sure wish I had 2k to spend on a computer right now roll%20eyes%20%28sarcastic%29.gif

Hey thanks! Neo, can you post the links to those products like what L337 did? Would be very appreciated. Thanks! :cya:

EDIT: I like the RAIDMAX Black 10-bay Case with 420W Power Supply better than the other one. It looks cooler. :nodding:
