Ok me and my friend are trying to do a LAN real quick so we can play games together and that requires me getting online to sign in on steam, but for some reason i can't get online, We are both plugged up to a network box which is hooked up to a cable connection which we are trying to share but only he can get online, my computer has limited or no connectivity *that is what is says when i hover my mouse over the to monitors on the bottom right*. I don't know what to do :( I think it might have something to do with the fact my computer doesn't recognize the box as being an internet gateway, we even plugged the cable connection directly into my computer adn same message , you have limited or no connectivity :( help pls thanks.

When you say "box" do you mean a router, or a hub/switch?

Shoot, I dont know what so say here then. You might try using another network cable, but that's all I can think of.

well i used to work for sprint, and i hate hubs :P

maybe u should try,

unplugging all the compenents hub modem and w\e else dont need to turn off the comps tho, plug and play FTW!

with the modem and router unplugged

turn on ur modem let it sync up and is all ready

then turn on ur hub with none of the comps plugged in. then plug in one comp, and see if that works for hte one comp, if so plug in the other computer and see. if that doesnt work.

the only thing that i can think of is ull have to go into the hub and configure it correctly :(

something else to try when both comps are plugged in on both goto (im assuming ur on windows xp) start>run>type in "cmd"> then in the black box type ipconfig and see if ur both gettin the same ip.
