This is a first for me. Usually I upgrade fairly often but since I have been laid off from work I havent been able to keep my system upgraded like I used to.

I downloaded the Farcry demo and was gonna play with it til I can get Doom 3.

Much to my suprise I find that my CPU is considered too low. That shocked me.

I have a AMD XP2200. Farcry says minimum CPU speed is a XP2400 or higher.

I have a Visontek Geforce 4 Ti4200-128MB

So here's my question...

I have the money to get a new CPU OR a new 3D Card. But not both.

I want to play Doom 3, HL2, STALKER, Farcry, Tribes:Vengeance, etc.

Which one should I get first?

Up until I found out that my CPU is too slow I was going to get a BFG 5900XT or Radeon 9600XT but now Im not sure what I need first.

My gut feeling says that Im close enough to the minimum CPU specs that it will still be OK and to go ahead and get a better video card.

Any advice?

thats a tough choice you are at the point that, games are beginning to deoend heavily on both cpu and video card, i would say get a new cpu, then play with setting on a lower lvl until you get enough to buy a new vid card.

If I were in your position I would buy the CPU first, then I would the 3D card as soon as I could.

AGP cards will drop in price as it is being faced out, you will most likely benefit from waiting with a vidcard purchase.
