Ordering my new computer tomorrow, so I'll have it in 1 week. I'm mainly going to use it for graphic designing, animation, and I might get into modeling, but it's not really my thing. Also will be used for gaming. One question, how much faster would the 4400+ be than the 4200, since it has twice as more cache? AMD Athlon 64 x2 4200+ S939 Kingston 1024MB PC3200 DRR400 Kingston 1024MB PC3200 DRR400 Sony 1.44MB Floppy Drive Sony 26A 16x DVD-/+RW 4x DL BK Sony 52x32x52 CDRW oem Maxtor 300G ATA 16M Maxtor 300G ATA 16M Asus Extreme AX800 2DTV 256MB Creative Labs Audigy2 ZS Platinum Logitech MX3100 KB + Mouse Kit (Includes the MX1000 Mouse) Logitech Z5500 5.1 Speakers

The extra 1mb L2 might be useful for rendering. It all matters if you have the money to spend on the 4400+. I don't think its worth the price increase for the 4400+. If you can find a good deal for it and/or have the money to burn get the 4400+. The 4400+ cheapest one I could find was this one at Monarch Computer.

Short answer: Nominally. In reality, you'll only see a difference if you're running something that's cache intensive. You'll see a marked improvement if "it" is larger than 512k but smaller than 1024k. As a general rule, single core AMD CPUs gain maybe 8-10% at any given clock speed by doubling the L2 cache to 1MB. Dual cores will probably be beholden to a similar rule.

That is a sweet computer. I would go for the 1mb l2 cashe since that is how much the +4800 has in it, only a slower clock rate Don't be surprised if I come and steal it from your house;)
